Alphabetical gamelist

Post by Diewrecked Verified »

Hi guys

As I go around my arcade inserting cabs, when I go into the gamelist it's sorted in time order, oldest first. Is there any way of sorting alphabetically instead please?

Many thanks

Yes the filter menu has this option. And you can also use the gamelist manager to sort and then save the gamelist.

Hi Peter

I used the gamelist manager to sort the gamelist alphabetically but it moved all the cabs around in my arcade (it didn't take into account the positions in the arcade cfg file) so I had to spend an evening putting them all back again!

The filter option does indeed have a sort AZ but it doesn't save it, you have to go into it each time to set it. Is there any way of making it default to sorting alphabetically please?

Thanks again

Once you've sorted the list using Peter's method, you need to go into the arcade config file using that gamelist, set the "fixedpos" property to |true|. This should make all of the cabs appear in th right place, but it can be limiting if you use the same arcade config for more than one gamelist.

If you want, you can go into the fe in fps mode and do a quick movecabs session. You don't have to move anything, just start an edit session, quit the session, and press 1 to save changes. That will save the cab position order in the arcade config in alpha order as well.
Let me introduce you to my friend Manuel...now open Manuel to page 6.

Yes that is the normal behavior if fixedpos is set to false. What you can do I think is set fixedpos to true. sort the gamelist as you did. go in to movecabs mode and do a save. after that you can set if you want fixedpos to false again.
