I have searched this forum like a noob and have been unable to locate my issue...
Out of some seemingly nowhere, the fe and MAME are no longer playing nice with each other. Mame runs every game slooooooooly through the fe, but the fe is silky smooth. Mame runs silky smooth via a command line and dos window but not through the fe. I broke something... any ideas?
Edit: I had some services turned off in XP that must have caused the issue. Set every service back to stock and the issue is no more. My. Bad.
